When you live with constant pain, there are few things that can provide comfort. Diagnosed with Complex Regional Pain Syndrome/Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy (CRPS/RSD) in 2011, Carole T. is especially grateful for Angel Flight Southeast.
The disease, which is concentrated in her right foot and leg, caused her to quit her job in Massachusetts and move to South Florida where her family can help care for her. A key symptom of CRPS is prolonged pain and it is exacerbated by cold weather.
Carole receives treatment in Tampa, approximately 400 miles away, every 60 days. Taking a commercial flight is very painful. She requires a wheelchair and often waits in long lines. It can leave her debilitated for days upon her return.
She says Angel Flight Southeast is literally the entity that keeps her going. “Every single pilot I have met is kind and caring,” says Carole. “They care from the core of their being and help so many people that they do not know.”
Being disabled is hard, she says, but Angel Flight Southeast makes it easier.
